So I’m pretty sure that this is probly someone from that post I commented on like a month ago? But regardless, you realize that this is super fucked up right? Like I know it’s weirdly a thing within the past few years (or maybe a decade idk) to tell ppl to kys but given the increased rates of mental health issues and suicide, youd think maybe this would’ve died down a bit.

Normally I wouldn’t give this kind of thing the time of day, and honestly I’m not even upset about being told this myself. What I am upset about is the idea that someone else in a much worse head space than me has undoubtedly either been told this or will be told this. What I’m upset about is the fact that this has become so normalized that ppl just say this to random strangers they know nothing about (tho saying it to anyone is fucked).

And the fact that this is likely from someone who claims they condemn abuse (a stance I whole-heartedly agree with), is just pure irony. Honestly, grow up.

Mary Shelley lost her virginity on her mother’s grave specifically I believe. It was also where she learned to read and write her name, by tracing the letters of her mother’s name.

She did in fact keep her husband’s heart, but iirc it was at least partly cuz they had him cremated after his body washed ashore from a sailing accident. But his heart was the only thing that wouldn’t burn. (It’s suspected his heart was calcified). They found it in her desk wrapped in one of his last poems.

In other words, she was about 500x more ethically sound than the bone-stealing witches of Tumblr.

She also helped a lesbian couple find a new life together in France by helping finance their elopement.

His name is spelled Jonathan.

His birthday is September 4.

His age was estimated at the time he was found in 1882. This species matures at around 50 years old and he was past that age, so he might be older than 189 but we will never know.

He lives on a South Atlantic island, Saint Helena (aka the place Napoleon Bonaparte lived until his death in 1815) where he’s well taken care of by the governor of the island. According to his vet, he likes listening to tennis.

The average lifespan for his species is 150, but he’s super healthy aside from cataracts in both eyes and possible loss of smell.

Jonathan has a mate, Fred, who until recently was thought to be female. Fred is male.

His species (which is a subspecies of Aldabra giant Tortoise) are on the endangered list with only about 80 recorded worldwide. However, many giant Tortoises currently hold the record for longest living land animals with a few others’ ages ranging between 175-250 years. So Jonathan still has a while to go!

No one has made sterile seeds. (Not unless you count apples or seedless water melons and there’s bananas and etc.) Most farmers will buy bags of seeds cuz they’re cheaper and have a higher rate of success. GMO is not really on the map for things to be concerned about in farmer.

The seed prevents farmers from re-planting seeds throughout the seasons by producing a sterile seed, which is unable to reproduce.

We can be concerned about multiple things.

Another concern to have about GMO soy/corn/etc that is typically used on American farms, is that many are made specifically to withstand more intensive use of pesticides and herbicides, which is bad for farmworkers’, consumers’, and the environment’s health*. Just about all commerical non-organic soy is GMO. And it’s in SO much.

*ESPECIALLY worker and environmental health. We’re already on the pesticide treadmill. We don’t need to accelerate use even further.

I didn’t think they wrote Will poorly? Like he’s a 14yo kid in the 80s from the Midwest. It seemed more natural to me that Jonathan didn’t pry it out of him and Will didn’t have to say it out loud when he wasn’t ready. That he was upset and felt third-wheeled early in the season, and later supported Mike. Like that’s just the kind of person Will is - sensitive and reserved, not the best at communicating, but there for the ppl he cares about. Robin existing for Steve is shit, and she definitely deserves more than that tho.

I’m honestly fucking appalled that the greater LGBT community is dead silent on the fact that the Indian Child Welfare Act is going under review which means that white people are finalizing their steps at complete genocide against us (Native peoples). As a white gay person currently going through the fostering program to be a potential foster parent this is so fucking important. I know it hurts when it's difficult to raise children by yourself but stealing children from their culture is an evil act.

To look away from this is despicable. Our culture is under attack, yes, as is our way of life and our ability to raise a family. But the further subjugation of the native people of this land and the further theft of their culture can never be the answer.
